Love them or hate them, The Bee Gees after having sold more than 200 millions records worldwide, are indisputably one of the most popular recording acts of all time. And don't let anybody tell you otherwise. Tailing only behind The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Garth Brooks, Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson, they are the 6th best selling artists of all time.

They may be the 6th best selling artists in the world but in the song writing department, they were without doubt the top dog. Don't get me wrong, I may like The Bee Gees but I am definitely a Beatles man. The Bee Gees will never beat The Beatles but I will give credits where credits are due. During the late seventies, apart from scoring hits after hits, The Bee Gees were mighty profilic in writing hits for other too. The Beatles did wrote some hits for others but there was always the nagging suspicious that they weren't exactly giving away their best songs but with The Bee Gees, that clearly wasn't the case. Even Barry Gibb was quoted on record saying that they have never held back any songs supposedly written for the intented artists.
The artists who benefited from The Bee Gees read like a Who's who from the rock era. Barbra Streisand have a whole album and 'Woman In Love ' & 'What Kind of Fool' which was a duet with Barry. Dionne Warwick have 'Heartbreaker' and a whole album while Kenny Rogers have a whole album too and with Dolly Parton had a hit with 'Island In The Stream' Yvonne Elliman had a hit in ' If I Can't Have You' Likewise Samantha Sang had 'Emotion'. And need I mention Olivia Newton John, Frankie Valli ,Diana Ross, Graham Parker, Celine Dion and Andy Gibb.
