A CHRISTMAS TRIBUTE TO ELVIS : I got this on discount too. Yet another cover version CD. This is getting to be a habit but then you know at this point, I am running out of CDs to buy and I have to maintain what I have started all those years ago. "A Christmas Tribute To Elvis' is quite an enjoyable collection of Christmas songs sung in the inimitable Elvis' style. When you talk about Elvis' tribute, I cannot ignore the song, 'Lonely This Christmas'' beautifully sung by Les Gray of Mud, in the style of Elvis. Written by the dynamite hit making machine duo of Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman, it have become a Christmas standard and make the charts years after years. DOP : 5th December 2011.
VIVA ELVIS : Finally an Elvis CD that I could throughly enjoy and play quite regularly. This CD and stage show was created by Cirque du Soleil which incidentally also produced The Beatles "Love" show.It opened like a live show with clapping and if you close your eyes, you could actually visualized yourself in a theatre. The music and arrangement are modernised and it actually works. Songs include 'Blue Suede Shoes', 'That's All Right', King Creole which are my favorites, and 'Love Me Tender' and 'Can't Help Falling In Love' which don't really work for me. This is one Elvis CD that I play quite often. Another super cheap CD which I've also bought for my friends. DOP : 5th June 2012.
ORIGINAL ALBUM CLASSICS : ELVIS PRESLEY : The last Elvis CD that I've bought. I have 'From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis Tennessee' and "Moody Blue" on record. The third CD was "Today". I put off buying this CD for months cos the "...Boulevard" Cd was repeated wholesale on the "Moody Blue" CD. As you know now I am a quality more than quantity guy. I finally bought it not too long ago 'cos I really missed the "Moody Blue" album. And indeed, somebody goofed big time. I felt cheated. One of my fave version of 'Let Me Be There' was replaced by the whole side of "...Boulevard" CD. I was devastated. I don't know why they left out that song. The guy who complied this CD should be hung upside down. I much rather have that one song than the repeat of the same CD. Sign. DOP : 15th September 2012.
By the way, I have 'Don't Be Cruel' on one of these various artistes complication album and 'Little Sister' on a pirate CD. Don't think I can live without these two great songs,do you.
