THE DEFINITIVE SIMON AND GARFUNKEL : My first taste of Simon & Garfunkel were the songs 'The Sound Of Silence' and ' I Am A Rock' courtesy of my brothers who taped it down on an old tape recorder which belonged to my father. I was around 10 years old and though I don't quite understand what they were singing, the tunes stuck with me ever since. I have a few Simon & Garfunkel albums and a few SPs before I got "The Definitive Simon & Garfunkel " CD. It contains all the hits that matters. Starting out as Tom & Jerry, Paul Simon was not a very proflic writer but still he managed to come up with five albums during their time as a duo. Initially regarded as a Bob Dylan's clone, Simon managed to break free of Bob Dylan's shadow by the time of his final album " Bridge Over Troubled Water" DOP : 15th July 1996.
SIMON AND GARFUNKEL : BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER : ing I bought this Delux CD in an attempt to relive the hazy lazy days of the sixties. Consisting of the original album, a live 1969 recordings and a DVD, this is quite a lot to digest. Bridge Over Troubled Water" produced four hit songs no less. The title song, 'The Boxer', 'Cecilia' and 'El Condor Pasa' are all instant classics. One song which I have always miss having is ‘KeepThe Customers Satisfied' which was recorded by Gary Puckett & The Union Gap and released as a single. With this CD, I finally have all the Simon & Garfunkel songs that I wanted. I quite enjoyed the live recording. It includes the rather rare 'That Silver Haired Daddy Of Mine'. I don't quite like the DVD 'cos it doesn't contained very much of Simon & Garfunkel which was what the DVD should be about but instead contained mostly of scence of violences and happenings from the turbulent sixties. DOP : 27th December 2011.
After their breakup, both Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel went on to successful careers with Paul, being the writer of the duo the more successful of the two.
