ALVIN STARDUST : MY COO-CA-CHOO : There were some legends that arises out of the glam rock period, but Alvin Stardust was not one of them. For a while, after his hit 'My Coo-Ca-Choo, he was quite popular but when glam rock fades away, he followed suit. However, he did have some minor hits like 'You, You, You' 'Red Dress' and 'Jealous Mind'. Strapped in leader jacket, he was under contract to look serious and aloof. When he couldn't take it, he use to retired in the store and have a great big laugh.I remember having a great chuckles when I discovered this piece of trivia with my sister. DOP : 10th January 2003.
T.REX. GET IT ON : Marc Bolan of T.Rex was a genuine bona file superstar who scored many hits in his native Britain but unfortunately not in America. This CD, however does not do justice to the man. It's a stripped down version of his hits which I find alienating. Admittedly I don't know much about Marc Bolan except for 'Hot Love' and 'Get It On'. However,I believe that anyone who can write songs like these two is capable of much better. There will be a better T.Rex collection in my shelf in the near future. DOP : 4th April 2004.
SLADE : GREATEST HITS : FEEL THE NOIZE : Initially I don't like Slade. I just don't like their image, particularly Dave Hill's haircut. And their songs were way too noisy for my tender ears. I was still a schoolboy then. I've heard a few songs from my friend's copy of their album. 'My Friend Stan' have a nice melody that I like. And I've heard 'Take Me Bak 'ome' from a local group. But I've always believed that if you have a tiff with your neighbors, play Slade loud and you will have them pulling their hair in exasperation and you rubbing your hands in glee. I've always wanted a Slade's CD. This was the first CD that I've bought from eBay. The songs are still loud but this time I've listened beyond the noise and it was quite good. My favorites are the rousing 'Cum On Feel The Noize' and the stirring sing along 'My, Oh, My'. And then there is the annual Christmas favorite 'Merry, Xmas Everybody'. DOP : The first CD I bought from Ebay 19th June 2009.
QUEEN : GREATEST HITS. VOL. 1 & 2 : Of all the Glam Rockers, Queen was arguably the greatest. Having Freddy Mercury as their front man doesn't hurt either. He was charisma, a great composer and a great singer. He wrote 'Bohemian Rhapsody', which was often listed as the best song of all time. I am not a fan of the song though. Having said that. I would say that Queen is good but they were never a great band. There are two CD but the songs that I like here can't even fill up half a CD. In a nutshell, my all time favorites Queen's songs are the obvious 'We Will Rock You', the discofied 'Another One Bite The Dust', the nostalgia's 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love', and 'Under Pressure', the song that Vannila Ice nicked wholesale for his own 'Ice Ice Baby' and the absolutely awesome 'I Wanna Break Free'. There's a Volume three out there but I will only get it if I can find it cheap. DOP : 1st January 1995.
QUEEN DANCE TRAXX featuring WORLDS APART : I WAS BORN TO LOVE YOU : I got this single cheap. This was another of Queen or rather Freddy Mercury 's song that I like. There's three version of 'I Was Born To Love You'. The Single Mix, the Soft Radio Mix and DJ Beam's Swinging Voices. The other two tracks are an instrumental version of "Love Ballad' and 'Together Baby'. This song was on Greatest Hits Volume 3. DOP : 14th February 2001.
