MEMORIES THROUGH THE YEARS

SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY. 20 GOLDEN MEMORIES : I can't for the life of me remember when I bought this. Maybe I needed some small changes for the train or something. Looking at the song titles, it ain't half bad. Unfortunately probably due to copyright reasons, most of the songs although by the original artists, are live recordings, except for a few. 'I Can't Stop Loving You' by Don Gibson, Johnny Tillotson's 'It Keeps Right On A-hurtin', and Tammy Wynette's 'Stand By Your Man'. The songs here were way before my time but it is still okay I guess. A few more of these and it'll probably send me to Dozyland. My brother would probably love this CD. DOP : 4th April 2008.

BRITISH INVASION. 60'S U.K. CHARTBUSTERS : Now this is more up my alley. 'Hello Little Girl' an original non Beatles Lennon / McCartney composition written for The Fourmost, 'Jesamie', an old favorite by The Casuals and without doubt one of my all time favorite songs, the big band ragtime ' Winchester Cathedral'. A fun novelty song that I could listen to a hundred times and never get tired of. The rest of the songs are, well, although respectable hits in their own rights were just filters for me. DOP : 14th November 1997.

EVERLASTING GOLD. THE BEST COLLECTION : This collection is even better. With 20 tracks and almost everyone of them good. The icing on the cake is 'Make It With You' by Bread, 'cos instead of the sweet vocal of the composer, David Gates, which we are all so familiar with, this version was sung by James Griffins, another member of Bread. It's quite a revelation to hear his rugged voice against the more familiar version by David Gates. The rest of the goodies are 'Reunited', 'Hello Darling' by the original composer Conway Twitty, 500 Miles Away From Home', and two version of 'Anak', both the English and the Filipino's version. Sandwiched in between you'll find      'I Love How You Love Me' by The Paris Sisters and even the original 'Donna' by the tragic Ritchie Valens. If this is not a  bargain, I don't know what is. Did I forget to mention the presence of 'The River Of No Return' by Marilyn Monroe and 'Within You'll Remain' too. DOP : 10th January 1996.

SWEET MEMORIES 9 : I bought this CD purely for the poignant 'Nobody's Child' by Karen Young. When this song first came out in 1969, I was just a mere child of 10. Still I couldn't help being swept by the melodrama of the song, so hauntingly and beautifully sung by Karen Young. I've heard other version since  but this version is the best for me. Most people have since forgotten this song but it was everywhere in 1969. Other rarities for me here are 'Put A Little Love In Your Heart', 'Good Morning Starshine' and The Letterman's medley of 'Goin' Out Of My Head / Can't Take My Eyes Off You'. As a bonus I also have Little Eva's 'The Locomotion'. And no, this is not a discount CD. I paid in full. DOP : 15th January 2006.
