THE HOLIDAY SEASONS

Since Christmas is just round the corner, I like to share with you some of my Christmas CDs. Most singers who's worth their salt have at least one Christmas in their retrospective. The Beatles, John, Paul & George each have one songs while Ringo have a whole album of Christmas songs.

THE GREATEST OLDIES OF CHRISTMAS : I like Christmas songs. I really do but this 3 CDs collection is boring. Maybe it's too much of the same stuffs, same style, same kind of singers. I've played it in the car while going outstation and nope, I don't think it's gonna be visiting my CD player anytime soon. 'The Christmas Song' by Nat King Cole, 'While Christmas' by Bing Crosby and 'Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow' may sound fine on its own but to strung them together with the same bunch is too much for anyone to stomach, including me. DOP : 20th December 2010.

MERRY CHRISTMAS : Another oldies Christmas Collection but this one flare better 'cos it have one of my all time favorite 'Merry Christmas ( Mele Kalikimaka )' sung by Bing Crosby & The Andrew Sisters. I've heard this blissful song many years ago and I've loved it ever since. Rosemary Clooney's 'It Came Upon A Midnight Clear' is almost heavenly. The rest of the tracks are the usual run of the mill Christmas songs. DOP : 10th December 2004.

FAMILY CHRISTMAS : I bought this out of curiosity. Korean Christmas songs. What next. It was a disappointment. Nothing out of the ordinary. I bought it on discount so it's no big deal except to fill up my CD shelf. It's mostly children singing of old traditional Christmas songs like 'Silent Night', Joy To The World', 'Jingle Bells', etc. DOP : 8th December 2010.

CLASSIC CHRISTMAS SONGS. PERFORMED BY FAMOUS ARTISTS : This double CD flared better with me. Consisting of 54 tracks of the festive seasons. It contains the usual culprits like 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town', Deck The Halls', 'Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer', 'Silver Bells' and 'When A Child Is Born'. Designed to add more joys to your festive celebrations. DOP : 26th November 2009.
