MORE BLAST FROM THE GLORIOUS PAST.....

GREATEST OLDIES COLLECTION. VOL. 6 - 10. ORIGINAL ARTISTS : My third Multi Collection CD. Sometimes I don't know whether it's the fault of the record companies or due to copyrights reasons, there are some songs that just refuse to appear in some artists collections. A case in point, can anyone tell me how to get 'Pretty Little Baby' in a Connie Francis' collection or 'The Room At The Top Of The Stair' in any Eddie Rabbit's collection. I rest my case. So this CD really does do me a big favor because there are quite a number of such hard to find songs abound. DOP : Unknown.

VOLUME 6 contains 'Over The Rainbow', the main song from the movie "The Wizard Of Oz", 'Sunrise, Sunset' and 'Fascination', the old Connie Francis standard but sung by Jane Morgan here and 'The Yellow Rose Of Texas'. In between there are two movie themes, 'The River Kwai March' and 'The Magnificent Seven'. Unfortunately these are not the original versions so that made it not so essential for me.

VOLUME 7  have 'My Prayer', the teen tragedy song, Teen Angel' and 'Strangers In The Night'. Since I am not a big fan of Old Blue Eyes and I don't have any of his CD, this is a fine representative of Frank Sinatra for me and one of my favorite.'What Will My Mary Say' is also here but since I've got Johnny Mathis collection, this one is render not so important to me as well.

VOLUME 8 have 'Michael Row The Boat Ashore', '9,999,999 Tears' and Glen Campbell's version of 'Yesterday When I Was Young'. 'Today' by The Christy Minstrels is also here but it was John Denver's version of this song that  bowed me over. Then there was 'Sho Jo Ji' a fun song with nonsensical lyrics which I use to sing to my youngest daughter and who now knows how to sing it too, even before she can read. 'Baby, Don't Get Hooked On Me' and 'Woman, Woman are also here.

VOLUME 9 contains two reasons why I bought this set of CD. 'I've Told Every Little Stars' and 'Pretty Little Baby'. Till today these two songs have obstinately refused to be featured in any of the respective singer's collection. In between there's‘Hurt' by Timi Yuro, 'Soldier Boy', 'Donna Donna' and the silly but fun 'Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Dot Bikini'

VOLUME 10, the final CD contains the other two reasons I bought this CD. Johnny Rivers' ‘Secret Agent Man' and Elvis Presley's 'Don't Be Cruel'. I first heard 'Secret Agent Man' as an instrumental from The Ventures and it stung me good. I was to discovered that the vocal version is even better. The rest of the pack here is the usual songs that you'll find in this kind of compilation. Still, with this CD set, I have extracted my pound of fresh and I am more than happy for it.
