IT'S ONLY ROCK 'N' ROLL BUT WE LIKE IT! VIRGIN RADIO VOL. 1 This double CD is jam packed with songs from the rock eras. Most of the songs represented here are not the artists most popular songs but nevertheless still enjoyable. My favorites are Free's 'All Right Now', Faith No More's version of The Commodores' 'I'm Easy', Rickie Lee Jones' 'Chuck E's In Love' and the humorous 'You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet' from Bachman Turner Overdrive. DOP : Unknown.
THE VERY BEST OF WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS : This is even better. At RM 9.90, I'm even slightly embarrassed to purchase it. Very obviously titled after the famed George Harrison's song, I don't know why it was not included here. This is a strictly rock oriented CD with the original J.J Cale's version of 'Cocaine' made famous by Eric Clapton, Lynyrd Skynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama'. Free's 'Wishing Well' is good while Joe Walsh's 'Life's Been Good' may just make me wanna dig up all his old albums. Peter Frampton's Show Me The Way' freaks me out and make me wanna go and grab his "Frampton Comes Alive" CD even thought I have heard not of the songs on that CD. Matthews' Southern Comfort's 'Woodstock' and Extreme's 'More Than Words'....'nuff said. DOP : 13th December 2011
PURE PSYCHEDELIC ROCK : This is one compilation CD that is different from the others. Consisting of 4 CDs, most of the tracks here were released between the late 60's and early 70's so the title psychedelic rock is questionable. Still psychedelic or not, there are some truly rare classics to be found here. Disc 1 is the best of the lot 'cos it have at least three rare tracks. The first 'Get Together' by The Youngbloods was a song I've originally heard sung by Lobo. 'Green Tambourine' by The Lemon Pipers and the super rare 'Groupie ( Superstar )', originally by Delaney & Bonnie And Friends and made famous by The Carpenters who famously changed the line from "...and I can hardly wait to sleep with you again" to "...to be with you again". due to their super clean image. And then there's Michael Nesmitch, one of the original Monkees 'Different Drum' made famous by Linda Ronstadt. Disc 2 have 'In The Year 2525 ( Exordium & Terminus )' by Zager And Evans. Disc 3 brings you the instrumental 'Frankenstein' by The Edgar Winter Group, 'American Woman' by The Guess Who and 'Singing WInds, Crying Beasts' by Santana. The rest of the songs I am just not familiar with. Albatross' by Fleetwood Mac, 'Spinning Wheel' by Blood, Sweat & Tears and Melanie's 'Lay Down ( Candles In The Rain )' are all from Disc 4. All in all a most worthwhile buy considering it cost only a miserable RM 9.90. DOP : 22th May 2012.
