GOLDEN MEMORIES: BEST OLDIES SELECTION. VOL. 1 : However caution you are, sometimes in life you'll get hook winked. The tracks on this CD is saliva inducing. 'Blueberry Hill', 'Poison Ivy', 'To Know Him Is To Love Him', not to mentioned 'Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White'. But there's a catch, there are all cover versions. This time they were so good, so convincing that they even managed to con me into believing they were the real McCoy. I only realised they were cover versions with the second CD that I've bought. DOP : 29th October 2006.
GOLDEN MEMORIES : BEST OLDIES SELECTION. VOL. 5 : I bought this for 'All Kinds of Everything', 'Butterfly', and 'Mammy Blue', three of my all time favourites songs that I don't have. As these were one hit wonders, these songs were incredibly hard to find, so cover versions or not, I have to have them, at least till I've found the originals. There were considered the legitimate pirates. Still, these CDs are good when you are travelling long distances. Better than any talky radio programme. DOP : 20th February 2008.
THE HIGHLIGHT ORCHESTRA & SINGERS : HAIR : This one I bought knowing that they were cover versions. The songs here are great and the interpretation were not too bad. Recognised now, as one of the pioneering rock musicals, the legendary 'hippy' show, "Hair" started life as a Broadway show. Many of the songs were hits for artists as devise as Three Dog Night, The Fifth Dimension and Oliver. My favourites here are, 'Frank Mills', which I first heard from Anita Harris, 'Good Morning Star shine', and 'Aquarius / Let The Sunshine In '. DOP : .9th July 2005.
THE CHRISTMAS ALBUM : Yet another cover versions CD that I've bought knowingly. It was Christmas and having wandered into a CD shop, there really was nothing to buy so I bought this. Recently I've got to hear the song 'Christmas Auld Lang Syne' on the radio. I fell in love with the song and I knew I just got to have it, cover version or not. So this was the reason why I bought this CD. Period. DOP : 4th December 2008.
DISCO OLDIES : 28 REMIXES OF CLASSIC OLDIES : I don't usually relish normal decent songs that goes with a mindless uptempo beats. More often not, it spoils the songs. But surprisingly this one actually works, most of them anyway. Maybe time have changed or maybe I have changed my perspective of the way I see things. I wouldn't exactly called this a pirate disc either 'cos although it was not sung by the original artists, the names of those covering them are intact, so the term legitimate pirates really does apply here. I have most of the songs here in their original forms. The ones that works are 'Oh Carol', 'Diana', 'In The Summertime' heck, most of them work. It's a nice companion for your holiday trip. DOP : 3rd December 2012.
A VERY SPECIAL PRECIOUS CHRISTMAS : A Christmas CD that I've been wanting to get since it came out a few years ago 'cos of the content of the songs. Who am I kidding ? Yeah, I got this 'cos of the few Beatles' songs that they've included in this collection. 'Happy Christmas ( War Is Over ), 'My Sweet Lord' and 'Imagine'. The last two was not really a Christmas song. There were included for the message of peace and religious. Other songs includes 'Do They Know It's Christmas', 'Last Christmas', 'We Are The World' and 'Auld Lang Syne'. Quite listenable actually until you came to the end of the CD. Too sugary sweet for me. DOP : 28th December 2012.
